How Do I Write a Letter to the State????

FIRST: address your letter appropriately

You can do this by selecting a member or members of the state legislature from the website below and filling out the appropriate template below. This is your intro to your letter. DO NOT USE, "Hey!" or "Dear..." Using this template is professional and respectful.

Honorable (Full Name)
Minnesota House of Representatives
Room # State Office Building
100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
St. Paul, MN 55155-1298

or

Honorable (Full Name)
Minnesota Senate
Room # Capitol Building
75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
St. Paul, MN 55155-1606

Second: Share Your Story

Include:

  • Your current GPA or status in school
  • Your experiences with children, background, or why you desire to be a teacher. Why are you qualified to be a    teacher in the state of Minnesota?
  • Describe your credentials (Honor Roll, National Honor Society, AP classes in high school, etc.)
  • Your personal experience with the test
  • Why/How should things change?

**These are all SUGGESTIONS to get you started. Tell your story in the way you feel comfortable while being as effective as you can. Remember to be accurate, PROFESSIONAL, and honest. We are writing to make a difference, not to yell, threaten, or blame (I know it is hard!)
